Welcome to Linux o­n POWER. Whether you're an exec wanting to use Linux, looking for an architecture that you can confidently move your businesses to--or a developer looking for help porting your application to Linux o­n POWER, you'll find it here. Linux o­n our powerful "system o­n a chip", gives you the flexibility to integrate all your applications without the usual price/performance trade offs.

Run by Peking University. (This Site Requires Cookies be Enabled in Your Browser)

This site is intended to be a community-based resource open to any open source developer adhering to o­ne of a number of open source licenses. Any such source code must be made available for free distribution under either:

* the IBM Open Source License
* the GPL
* or any license o­n the list approved by the Open Source Initiative.

This site offers remote non-root access via SSH to the latest in POWER-based servers to be used for the development and porting of open source applications, as well as a software repository for hosting applications that have been ported to Linux o­n POWER.

To gain access to the system via SSH and/or load applications into the repository , you will have to be a registered user of this site (below-right). o­nce registered you will receive additional information with regard to logging into the site.

Anyone who wants a SSH account and has forgotten to fill the "Description of your planned project" in the registration form could e-mail to LoPdev@ppclinux.pku.edu.cn for a SSH account.

To users :Anyone who has registed and did not login in three months will be  cleared away from our databases.

The way for SSH login:
Host Name: ppclinux.pku.edu.cn
Port: 2000
Authentication: Keyboard Interactive
Attention: SSH Client should support SSH2


In the future we hope to add additional functionality, like user forums and discussion groups and others to help developers become self-sufficient.

Use of this site must be in accordance to the terms expressed in the Acceptable Use/Privacy section of this site.

A Java 5 SE beta has been released o­n developerWorks to the public.  o­ne of the key new
features is support for the Mozilla Java plugin.
The web link to the download site is:

Several years ago, IBM set out to design a new microprocessor that would
leverage IBM strengths across many different disciplines to deliver a server that
would redefine what was meant by the term server. POWER4 was the result. It
was developed by over 300 engineers in several IBM development laboratories.
The POWER5 system is IBMs next generation of POWER-based
